VaLeNtInE's WeEkEnD

We finally decided to make Mya's crib into a toddler bed. It has taken about 6 months for us to get up the courage to actually change her bed. To our astonishment she is doing very well and hasn't gotten out of bed in the middle of the night yet (knock on wood). Mya was so excited when I changed her bed on Friday, she loves the fact that she can get in and out of her bed all by herself. As you may know I have rocked her to sleep for a long time, now we have a different nightly routine. After Mya's bath, she climbs into bed and Scott and I each read her a book and then we have family prayer. I stay by her bed and hold her hand until she falls asleep. In the morning Mya gets out of bed all by herself and she has the biggest smile on her face when she walks into our bedroom. It is so hard for me to see my little girl growing up. I truly miss rocking her to sleep, I have to admit I cried a few nights while she was laying in her bed asleep.

Saturday we had a pretty relaxing day. We played in the snow while Scott shoveled the driveway. And Scott had sent Mya and me flowers for Valentine's Day! They are so beautiful. Mya loves flowers, especially smelling them.

Nigh Nigh Mommy

So, I have rocked Mya to sleep for a very long time now. And the other day we were sitting down in the rocking chair to take a nap and Mya just didn't want to settle down. I said to her "Do you want me to just lay you down in your bed?" And to my amazement she said "Yes." I then gave her a love and a kiss and said "goodnight." I stood by the door for a very long time and when I finally got up the courage to look in her room she was asleep. I was in shock, she hasn't fallen asleep on her own since she was a little baby. It was so bitter-sweet, I was so happy that she fell asleep on her own but then I love being able sit there and hold her. She is so busy playing during the day that there isn't much time to sit and cuddle. My little girl is growing up way too fast. I have found that I have to enjoy every minute because those minutes go by so darn fast. Before I know it she will be going to pre-school, so scary!

Chloe and Liam

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law were able to adopt preemie twins about a month ago. And on Saturday I got the chance to go to the hospital and see them for the first time. They are so adorable....and so tiny. Chloe and Liam were born November 15, 2008, 25 weeks gestation. They are doing well and Chloe maybe able to come home on Friday!!! We are so proud of our little fighters.

HaPpY hApPy BiRtHdAy MyA

Monday was Mya's 2nd birthday and we had such a great day! It all started when I woke her up and sang "Happy Happy Birthday Mya" so the rest of the day and everyday since she has been singing "Happy Happy Birthday Mya". It is so cute!! Mya opened a few presents that morning, which included her birthday outfit and a crown (that says "birthday girl") earrings and a necklace. Mya is fascinated with earrings, she has been asking me for earrings for months now but daddy says "No". She was so excited to get earrings that she wore them almost the whole day.

I decorated the house for her party that night but the weather didn't quite cooperate. So we only had a few guests, but it was still so much fun. Mya picked out her cake, she wanted Dora. I think it just about killed her to not dig into before the guests arrived. I really believe that Mya thought she was going to get all messy like she did on her 1st birthday.

Mya got so many fun presents. Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Jason gave her this cute bear and a balloon (Mya loves balloon and I think she has played with that balloon more than any other gift). Thank you!

Scott and I got her a red tricycle, that is what she has been asking for.

Family Pictures

We decided to do Christmas pictures this year. So Scott's parents come over one night and I have to admitt that the pictures turned out pretty cute. Mya let me put curlers in her hair and it is so adorable! She is such a good sport for mommy. I just love Mya's cheesy little smile. I enjoy this time of year because it reminds me of how very blessed I am. I have a wonderful husband and daughter, that I love with all my heart. We have so much, a nice home to keep us warm and we have all of our family close by to make fun memories with. We are so very thankful to have Mya in our life and hope to add more to our little family.
Merry Christmas!!!!

Halloween

I am finally posting our Halloween pictures! We had such a fun day; Mya and I went to Scott's work Halloween morning to do some Trick-or-Treating, then we went to see Mya's Great Grandpa Hampton, and finally that night we went Trick-or-Treating around our neighborhood. Mya's new found treat is suckers, she loves them!!! I seriously think that she ate at least ten suckers on Halloween. And that is more than she has had in her life time. Mya was so much fun on Halloween, that we can't wait for Christmas!
