Hold them Mama

A few days ago, Mya and I went to Gateway with Scott's Mom, sisters and nieces. We had so much fun. We started the day off by going to the Clark Planetarium to see the 3D movie Under the Sea. It was so awesome!! This was Mya's first time going to a movie theater, her mouth dropped open when the movie started because the screen was so big. She had never seen anything like it before. When the fishes started to come toward her she would reach out to touch them, it was so darn cute. I had such a great time watching Mya's reactions through the whole movie. When Mya was trying to touch the fish she would say to me "hold them, mama, hold them". Mya wanted so badly to hold just one of the fish. Mya insisted on sitting in her own seat right up until the sting ray was hiding in the sand and moved really fast to catch another fish, then she wanted to sit on my lap the rest of the time. Mya wore her 3D glasses the whole time, I was so proud of her! My favorite part of the movie was the end when the sea lions came up and gave us a kiss, Mya loved it too! She even gave him a kiss back. Mya is such a cutie!!

After the movie, we headed to Build a Bear. Mya chose the most adorable little bunny. Gram Mary has these pictures so I will have to get them from her. Our next stop was the water fountians. Mya loves to play in the water. She doesn't normally like it when the water gets in her face but it didn't even bother her one bit this time. Mya had so much fun playing with her cousins in the water. What an enjoyable day, we were all pretty worn out by the days end.

Summer is finally here!!!!

Can I just say that I am so loving the weather right now, it is perfect!! We have been having so much fun the past couple of weeks. We went swimming, to the park, playing outside in the dirt and as I mentioned before we signed up for dance lessons. One of the more memorable events this week was Mya saying her first prayer all by herself. Scott or I usually help Mya say prayers but on Sunday when we asked who's turn it was Mya said "Mya's turn". We were both interested to see what she would say. And this is how it went "Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for this day. Bless daddy to come home. Jesus. Amen." It was the cutest thing I have ever heard, I had tears in my eyes. My little girl is going up!!!! I just love her so much. Today I asked Mya if she wanted some more yogart and she said "No, thank you mom". I tell ya some days I feel like I am going to go crazy but then there are moments like these and you think "it is all worth it". One last fun story, I promise. I am a nursery leader in Mya's class at church. On Sunday, all the kids (mind you, we usually have about 8-10 two year olds) were sitting down at the table eating their snacks. Well, Mya decided that she needed to give me a kiss, so she got up and came over to where I was and gave me a kiss on the cheek. Then one of the other little girls came and gave me a hug. Mya saw this and then she needed to gave me a hug too. It was so adorable!!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to ALL!!!! I love Mother's day, I love all the flowers that everyone is planting and I love recieving flowers and I love the joy that comes from having little Mya in my life. Mother's day has not always been a good holiday for me. Before Mya came into our family it was one of the hardest days of the year. Wanting to be a mother so bad but not being to be able to. The Mother's day right before Mya was born I couldn't even manage to go to church. I have a whole new respect for Mother's day now. Not only am I a mother now but I am a mother because of the love of Mya's birth mother. A sarcifice that is so great that words alone cannot begin to express my gratitude to her. She is the most amazing and selfless person I know. Mya's birth mother is truely my HERO!! Mother's day will forever be bitter-sweet, knowing that Mya's birth mother may have a hard day, will always be in the back of my mind. We love you Shannon!!

I am so very thankful for the relationship that I have with Shannon. Shannon invited me to go with her to the birth mother dinner that LDS Family Services does for Mother's Day on Wednesday. It was such an amazing, spiritual and fun night. There was slide show playing the whole time of the children that these wonderful birth mothers have placed. And everytime that the pictures of Mya and Shannon came up I couldn't help but have a huge smile on my face. One part of the night that stands out the most in my mind is the musical number "From Gods arms, to my arms, to yours". I have always loved this song and it always makes me cry but that night sitting next to Shannon and listening to those words was so emotional for me. Thank you Shannon for taking me with you. It was so much fun!

Easter

Easter this year was so much fun! Mya really got excited about the Easter Bunny coming to our house to bring her candy and gifts. Although, Saturday night I told her that the Easter Bunny was going to come to our house that night and she wasn't too sure about a bunny that she didn't know entering our home in the middle of the night. When she woke up that morning and walk to our room (as always) she happened to notice the basket full of goodies and she stopped to check it out. And then she ran into our room and said "Mommy, out there." Mya was so excited to get a Pooh Bear just like the one on her favorite cartoon My Friends Tigger and Pooh. Mya makes us so very happy, I don't know what we would do without our cute little munchie.

Mya looked so adorable in her new Easter dress!

Dinner and a Game

A few weeks ago Scott's work gave us tickets to the Jazz game on March 28th (I know I am so bad at posting). Come to find out Mya's birthmother, Shannon, was going to be at the same game. So, we decided to meet up for dinner at Gateway before the game. Although Mya couldn't be there (there is no way my adorable 2 year old would sit through a whole Jazz game), we still had so much fun catching up with Shannon and meeting her brother. It has been almost a year since we saw Shannon last. Shannon and I email often but it is still so much fun to be able to see her in person. She brought a Little Mermaid toy for Mya and Mya now loves watching The Little Mermaid with her new doll.
One thing that I have learned recently is that life goes by way too fast. I have learned to appreciate and love everyday that I get to spend with my wonderful little family. I have also learned to not always be looking forward to what may come in my life but enjoy now because it will never be this way ever again. I am so thankful for all that I have!!

The Bachelor

The finale of The Bachelor totally sucked last night. I loved Melissa...Jason is such a jerk! I don't even know if I want to tune in tonight, what else can they possibly say. I don't know how I ever got into watching these kind of shows. On a much happier note, I won a bunch of Chloe Reese hair stuff the other day. I am so excited to get them in the mail (hopefully today). I am one of those people that never ever wins anything, so you can imagine my shock when I found out that I won. Now, I just have to make sure Mya keeps them in her hair!!
